Top Ten Christmas Songs

There is a radio station in town that is playing Christmas music 24/7 and I've been enjoying every minute of it.  I think there are only a dozen Christmas songs ever written but about a thousand different ways to sing them.  At least it seems like it.

My Top 10 Christmas Songs ... in random order

1. It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
2. Carol of the Bells (from Home Alone)
3. Let It Snow by Frank Sinatra
4. Have a Holly Jolly Christmas
5. Christmas Vacation (From the Lampoon's movie)
6. Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell Rock by Bobby Helms
7. Rocking Around The Christmas Tree
8.  Have Yourself A Merry Christmas by Frank Sinatra
9.  Run Run Rudolph by Chuck Berry
10.  I'm Dreaming of White Christmas by The Drifters

And just because I like making lists, Top 5 Christmas Songs that I hate with a passion and will lead me to turn the radio off every single time!

1.  Christmas Shoes (Any version!)
2.  Santa Baby by Madonna (Sadly, the station in town seems to like this one.)
3.  12 Days of Christmas  (I'd much rather listen to It's A Small World)
4.  I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus (The Jackson Five version)
5.  Last Christmas by Taylor Swift (Nails on a chalkboard.  NAILS!! Make it stop!)

This makes me curious as to why Christmas is the only holiday with special music that takes over the air waves.  Halloween and Thanksgiving have been celebrated for hundreds of years yet we don't hear anything about ghosts, goblins, and giblets on the radio.  Or maybe there is and I'm not just looking in the right places.  Hmmm.

It's probably for the best, I guess.  So, what are your favorite Christmas songs?  Or most hated?
