I didn't feel like running today. I was freezing most of the day and even though it got up to 47 degrees outside, it felt like ice daggers every time I went outside. Not feeling all that well today. But I didn't want my streak to end so I rode the recumbent bike for 40 minutes this evening while watching The Big Bang Theory.

Tuesday Tidbits
- Shortly after Christmas I got some holiday Dunkin' Donuts coffee on clearance. The mint was superb. Yesterday I tried Pumpkin Spice. It was amazing!! If I was on QVC, there would be a party in my mouth.
- Lady and The Tramp is available in a DVD/Blue Ray combo pack right now. I have the serious urge to upgrade my edition. I don't own it on DVD. I think it's time that problem was rectified.
- I made reservations for Brent and I to see Avenue Q at the local dinner theatre!! We got a gift certificate for Christmas and we're going to use it while he's home. He comes home Friday. Friday. Four days. I'm ready for him to be home again. Four days.
- I watched Morning Glory on Netflix while scrapbooking yesterday. It was a really cute movie. I may have liked it more had I not just finished watching Notting Hill and 27 Dresses, two of my favorites. It's hard to shine when you're in the shadow of those two movies!
- Speaking of movies, I really want to see This Means War, which comes out on Valentine's Day. Maybe I can convince Brent to take me to a matinee so we can beat all the crazies who will be out that night for dinner and a movie.
- I spent some time organizing my scrapbook stuff today as I was putting it away. I now have a whole drawer dedicated to Walt Disney World! 92 days and counting!! I started on the fall road trip and also made a lengthy list of things that still need scrapped. It will be a miracle if I ever get semi-caught up!!
- I took a nap today. Much needed. I haven't been sleeping well. It was a good nap. I wish I could nap every single day.

100 DFC: Day 6
Six days, folks. I think it's officially a streak I have going on!! Brinkley and I went for a walk this afternoon. 1.5 miles to be exact. AND this evening I rode the recumbent bike for 30 minutes while watching TV. I consider it an easy day.
Tomorrow will likely bring running.

Scrapbooking Wall Art
I've been meaning to add photos of my scrapbooking project for a while. Not because I think it's the greatest thing ever invented but because I actually finished something I said I was going to do!! And it did turn out pretty cool.
Way back in October, Brinkley and I went for a drive up in the mountains to go stick hunting. We were looking for semi-straight sticks. We found two with potential and brought them home where they sat in the living room for a few months. So the last time Brent was home I took advantage of the extra set of hands and we got everything up on the wall.
Here was my brilliant idea for cheap living room decor. Sticks - free. Leather and horseshoe nails - free (because Brent bought them and I have no idea how much he paid). Sheet protectors and scrapbook pages were already in my supply!!
I had to crop out the mess that is currently the living room. I spent the day scrapbooking yesterday so I have stuff spread out everywhere!!
I think the project turned out great. I'll be able to change out the pages to correspond with each season or holiday. I figure that I've worked hard on my scrapbooking and I can get a double life out of my work by displaying some pages. How often do you really open an album and look through it?? Not very often?? Same here. At least this way, my hard work doesn't go completely forgotten.

100 DFC: Day 5
Brinkley and I ran two miles this afternoon. I thought it was going to be an easy run but it wasn't. My legs were tired from yesterday's 5k and I really struggled to keep at a jog while we were out this afternoon.
When I got home I also did two rounds of 25 sit-ups, 20 kickbacks per leg, and 20 squats. It felt great to be done with my activity for the day!!
I spent the rest of the day watching movies and scrapbooking... until I ran out of photo sticker squares. I guess I'll be heading off to Hobby Lobby or Michael's tomorrow to buy more!! I can measure my productivity by boxes used! I'm on my third box so far this year. I'm cruising right along!!
I'm off to watch one more movie and organize my stuff for tomorrow.

100 DFC - Day Four
Bryn and I conquered the Yeti Chase 5k this morning! I ran my fastest 5k ever - official time was 35:01. I was really, really hoping to have been under 35 minutes but that just gives me something to work for, I guess.
Day Four is in the books!! Official race photo coming soon, hopefully.

100 DFC: Day 3
An easy day - only 20 minutes on the recumbent bike. I wanted to go longer but thought I should save my legs for tomorrow's 5k!!! I'm still sore from my burpee adventure!!

100 Day Fitness Challenge: Day Two
Crap that's a long title. I'm going to have to come up with an abbreviation or something.
The burpees from yesterday left me darn near immobile this morning. I can't quite lift my arms above my head and my legs are killing me! It's the good kind of pain though.
Brinkley and I ran two miles this morning. It was cold. And kind of breezy. I didn't really hit my stride until after the first mile and then it seemed to end too quickly. I didn't have time for a longer run. The sunshine made it feel a bit Spring like. At one point I was chanting in my head, "the tulips are coming, the tulips are coming."
Anywho, day two is conquered! My eating hasn't been too bad. I just need to keep working on drinking more water.

100 Day Fitness Challenge: Day 1
My family finally figured out when our Disney vacation will be. It's just shy of 100 days away. This means I'm missing out on my half marathon scheduled for May 6th. I'll be doing my own crazy marathon around Disney World on that day! I'm bummed but okay with it because I have other races plotted out in my head, including a half marathon.
So rather than use my half marathon as motivation to get me through Winter, I'm going to use my newly created 100 Day Fitness Challenge, which sounds way better than the 98 Day Fitness Challenge.
So rather than use my half marathon as motivation to get me through Winter, I'm going to use my newly created 100 Day Fitness Challenge, which sounds way better than the 98 Day Fitness Challenge.
Today was the first day of my 100 Day Fitness Challenge. My strategy is this… do something every. single. day. That’s it. That’s all there is to this. I’m going to fly by the seat of my pants and do something active each day.
Right now, I’m looking for something that is easily adaptable to weather and my schedule. And overall, I'm still looking to reach the half marathon fitness level by the beginning of May. Long runs are still going to be a big part of my fitness challenge.
Anywho, I was hoping to go for a run this morning. But it was crazy cold out so I researched at home Crossfit and found this, a list of absolute beginner’s workouts. I had to laugh at some of them but I went with …
10 burpees
20 squats
30 pushups
20 squats
10 burpees
This was all for time. I did it in 8:01. I also did situps, a plank, and some supermans. My warmup was ten minutes on the recumbent bike and cool down was five minutes on the recumbent bike.
I think total time was around 30 minutes. I was dripping with sweat. I wasn’t breathing heavily but my muscles were quivering, and now, feel like wobbly jello. It’s been a long time since I’ve had this feeling!! It feels pretty good.
When I went to the grocery store yesterday, I stocked up on lots of fresh food. No fitness challenge is complete without reigning in the diet. I’ve got lots of healthy snack options to get me through the workday. I’m going old school and leaving my debit card at home to avoid any possible latte cravings!!
So, you asked, "What the hell's a burpee?" It's this...
I look nowhere near as graceful as those in the video. Burpees are not easy!! Even with my measly 8 minute workout this morning, I'm still feeling it in my legs and shoulders. I certainly hope they get easier over time.
Anyone care to join me in my 100 Day Fitness Challenge??? Bring on the bathing suits!! :-)

Tuesday Tidbits
Life in random little tidbits.
- I slept amazingly well last night. My bed was cozy. I was just the right temperature. And it was quiet. And I didn't get pushed all over the bed by Brinkley. When I woke up at 9:30 I just wanted to hit rewind at do it all again, minus some of the weird dreams. I rarely have a dreamless night.
- Over the weekend I watched the movie Lifted. It was a random Netflix movie that I thought sounded interesting. It was a good movie for the most part. It featured Trace Adkins and Ruben Studdard. Basic plot - a young, musically inclined yet bullied boy enters into a singing competition because his meth addicted mother lost everything his military father worked for. Oh, and the end really did surprise me and almost made me cry. While the boy wonder had singing chops, I expected more from him based on the opening song he sings with his dad. And the song he sings with Ruben. The singing competition songs were a lot of him belting out the same mini-chorus for each song. That got annoying. Otherwise, good story. I'd actually watch it again.

- I also watched New In Town this weekend. I think it's slowly moving in to the my #1 romantic comedy spot. Runaway Bride better look out! Every time I scrapbook by myself, I end up watching this movie. It never gets old. Never.
- I finished the Hunger Games trilogy a while back and started reading Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I was hooked immediately but haven't really been sucked into reading it every single free moment. It's definitely a book that I can see turned into a movie. I give it a year to really catch on and then hit theaters. Mark my words! HA! Info from the publisher...

- I had the pleasure of hanging out with friends at a favorite "old haunt" of mine. The Wild Boar coffee shop is my all time favorite hangout spot in Fort Fun. The atmosphere is awesome. The coffee is great. And the food is delicious. Friday night I got to hang out with Vanessa and Sunday I got to hang out with Jana and Anna. It felt great to have a social life for those few days. I think it would be good for me if I made the effort to make that happen more often.
- The more I watch Pan Am, the more I love it. I don't want to get attached to it but I can't help it. I love all of the story lines. It makes my Cold War loving heart squee. If I lived back then, I'd like to think I could have been a spy for the CIA.
- I made break apart cookies this afternoon. And they are oh so good. It's a good thing I have a plan on how to get rid of most of them and won't be consuming each and every single one myself. I have no will power when it comes to sweets. My strategy is to not buy and or make any. I can't eat sweets if they are nowhere around!!
Weekend Scrap
In addition to the usual weekend cleaning, I've been working on organizing and scrapbooking.
I worked on getting my finished scrapbook pages into sleeves. That took about an hour because I had so many. And I scrapped our Miller Farm trip from last fall. I hoped to work on some greeting cards with my awesome Cricut machine but that will have to wait for another day.
I've made some amazing progress this month in the scrapbooking arena. If I can keep at it through the rest of Winter, I may be able to catch up. Here are some of my favorite pages that I've completed this month...
I'm getting more efficient at using my Cricut machine and have what seems like a million ideas flying through my head for a Disney World scrapbook. Now if I could just be that mentally creative for Seattle, Vancouver, San Francisco, Chicago, and Ohio. Ok, so maybe catching up is only a dream. At least having something to always be working on means I'll never be bored.
Since it's Tuesday, I'm off to run around and do all things I should have been doing the last two days.

New Shoes
I was thinking it would be time for new running shoes soon. My feet feel like they are hitting concrete barefoot every step I make while running. I've put about 350 miles on them since I started running in them last May! Yah, me! It's definitely time to start breaking in a new pair.
I did some shopping online the past few days. I found my style and size of running shoe on clearance at Zappos and Running Warehouse. I wish I would have found the Running Warehouse sale first because it was definitely cheaper there. So, I basically got two pairs of new shoes for the price of one pair at a local running store. I'm so excited. I should be set for 2012 now!
Brinkley and I ran 3 miles yesterday. It was good to hit the trail again but man oh man, I'm done with winter. DONE! I waited all day for the temps to creep up. We didn't freeze by any means but it's the mental battle that goes along with running in the cold. The first mile always sucks until my body heats up.
I'm far off my training schedule. The last few weeks were a complete wash. I don't feel even slightly bad about it. I will just keep running and running and see where it takes me. This upcoming Saturday I'm running a 5k with my friend, Bryn!! We're either chasing a Yeti or being chased by one. Either way, I'm sure we'll get pictures!

One run
It's amazing what one run can do. Brink and I ran two miles this morning...in 50 degree weather! It was great!! I'm back on track with a pep in my step now!! YAH!

Ole' Wyoming
Our trip to Thermopolis and Cody was my first time up to the northwestern part of Wyoming. A lot of people can't stand Wyoming. It is a huge, mostly flat state but it is gorgeous if you take your time to really look at it. I'm partial to the prairies and wind though - GO COWBOYS!!
Anywho, Brent takes detours pretty much wherever he go so we took the long route to Thermopolis. One of the coolest parts of the drive was the Wind River Canyon. One minute we're driving through yellow rolling prairies and the next we were in a deep canyon, with stunning gray rock faces and a winding river that looked perfect for flyfishing. As soon as we exited the canyon, there were deep red hills. I was impressed!
Once we arrived in Thermopolis we drove around the State Park to check it out. There were some craters, some buffalo, and a staircase built by the WPA down to the river. It's smaller than I was expecting. Much smaller. But I found the equivalent of a Boot Hill. Score! Below is a picture....cemetery is up the stairs on the left. Just for you, Mom!
The only place to soak in the hot springs for free is the State Bath House. It limits visitors to a 20 minute soak. Not early enough. We didn't want to pay to visit the two pools flanking the bath house so we went back to our hotel which was a stone's throw away from the hot springs and soaked in the mineral water hot tub. Same water but it's free! Whoop! And we had it all to ourselves. That was certainly one plus in going in winter - no crowds!
The down side, however, is that most things are closed on Sunday, Monday, Tuesdays in the Winter. We learned this the hard way when we drove and hour from Cody to Thermopolis the next day to visit the Buffalo Bill Historical Center the next day. I was so exited to finally go but we were informed by security after entering that the place was closed on Mondays in the Winter. CLOSED!!
I should have known better - museums can be really weird with operating hours. But come on - it's the main attraction in town for crying out loud and it was closed! CLOSED! With nothing else scheduled for the day we kicked around some ideas while we perused the Sierra Trading Post store. We ate lunch at Brent's favorite restaurant, The Rib & Chop House. It was really, really delicious!! While eating we decided against driving hours to Montana just so to say that I had been there. Instead we decided to head west into Yellowstone so that I could say I'd been there.
We stopped for coffee and started making our way out of town. We passed a dam. It was really cool to see the ice piled up before the dam. The chunks were kind of rolling up and down as the water below was sucked into the dam. I'm easily amused some days.
We passed many, MANY huge ranches on the way to the park, each with an awesome view ... and a heard of 20 or 30 deer in their front lawns! I've never seen so many deer in one area in my life. As we got closer to Yellowstone it look very similar to the hills of Rocky Mountain National Park. We saw some big horn sheep and a some buffalo!! Wild buffalo - now that's a first!
After an hour or so of driving I pulled out the map to see if just how far we had to drive to reach the park. I confidently pronounced, "I think we're getting close." A few curves later and I read a sign out loud, "Road Closed - One Mile." The sign didn't lie. The road was indeed closed one mile ahead. So Yellowstone served us up the same disappointment as the Bill Cody Historical Center. We shook our heads and laughed. Figures. We agreed the drive was peaceful and pretty though. Not a complete waste of time - I saw buffalo!
The next day we had to head back home. It was a very quick trip to the far stretches of Wyoming. We did get to soak in mineral water. I'm not sure it healed me but it felt good. It was a relaxing trip soaking in views I had never seen before. I think some day we'll try to head back up there when everything is open.
We enjoyed another trip through the Wind River Canyon. Shortly after I said, it would be cool to see a train going through here, one came around the corner upon request. It was just exiting a tunnel.
We also stopped at Hell's Half Acre in the middle of Wyoming. And we stopped to take a picture of Dick Cheney's mailbox. It's the small things in life. We also stopped by the UW campus to hit the bookstore and visit one of Brent's friends. It's always great to visit UW!
It was a very long way to drive to see a lot of closed signs but we had fun. And we got away from home for a bit which was what we both wanted. Good ole' Wyoming never fails to provide us entertainment in one way or another.

A new wagon
I'm hitching a ride on a new wagon today. See about two weeks ago I fell off of mine. When we headed off to Thermopolis we ate all the good things (way too much of them) while we were
gone. I haven't been running or hydrating. I've been stressed, sleepless, and unmotivated.
But it's a new day and a new week. I'm going to try pushing myself into a routine. Now that the place is clean, I'm going to use a daily checklist to stay on top of things so I can focus my energy on organizing and completing other tasks that have long been on my To Do list.
Sometimes falling off a wagon and hailing a new one isn't such a bad thing!

Early to bed
It was a busy weekend here. Scrapbooking takes concentration and focus. I worked long after the girls left yesterday. I'll try to take pictures of my favorite pages later this week. I scrapped all of last summer's hiking adventures, Mini Moo putt putt, Moxon summer fun, and other fun things. I have a very large stack of finished pages that need put in protective sleeves and albums.
I'm off to bed early. Tomorrow starts a very busy work week. I hope my bad luck isn't horrible after I drop off Brent at the airport in the morning.

Maid Wanted
Would it be pathetic to hire a maid for a one bedroom, one bathroom condo? I'm thinking once a month or even twice a month, to have a maid come in and clean my bathroom and my kitchen. I could have her do the scrubbing, vacuuming, mopping, etc. All of the stuff that is no fun. At all.
It always makes me grumpy and angry when I start cleaning. Always. I think I'm the only one with dirt and grime vision. I'm tempted to at least see what it would cost. I think it would be a small price to pay for my sanity. I don't like giving orders in order to get help cleaning. I shouldn't have to. Unless I pay you - then I can make requests all day long!
We shall see. For now, I'm just glad it's the weekend!! I would love a cold beer but I'll settle for a huge glass of water. I've been neglecting my hydration lately. And running. A few more days of slacking off with general laziness and then I'm getting back on track.

What routine?
I have photos uploaded so that's a small step in the right direction. My body is attempting to catch up for the earlier lack of sleep in the week. I can't seem to crawl out of bed before nine the last two days. Which means my morning running and writing time is non-existent. It leaves me feeling sluggish and grumpy.
I've been trying to clean in small bits in preparation for a scrapbooking weekend with Heidi and Bryn. I still have a long way to go and not much time. I'm headed to Target after work to get more photos printed. During the last scrapbooking weekend I finished Washington D.C. from 2005 and Halloween and Christmas from this past year. This weekend I'm going to work on the many camping and hiking trips from last summer.
I'm still not quite done with the Mockingjay, the third book in the Hunger Games series. I finished the second while we were driving to Thermopolis. And with my awesome Nook, I bought the third one for the trip back. I'm not sure how it ends but I'm already sad that there are only 3 books. What will I read next??
And now I'm off to get dressed for work and clean a little more before leaving.

Drained
Brent's sicker than a dog at the moment. Food poisoning from somewhere. So we're both exhausted. There's no escaping the sickness in a one bedroom, one bathroom condo. I slept maybe half an hour total last night so I feel as exhausted as he looks.
I made it to court this morning. I may have looked like a zombie, I'm not sure. I didn't look in the mirror before I left. I'm back home for a few hours before heading off to work. I'm going to see about doing a half day (I have a trial this afternoon - oh joy), so I can come back and actually get some sleep. Hopefully.
It's good to be home again. We had fun on our mini-trip up to northwestern Wyoming. I have pictures that I'll try to upload after I finally get some sleep.

Coffee crud
Brent has this weird thing about crud on my coffee pot. I never have to clean it because Brent will inevitably clean it before I do. He will notice the brown crud caked in the bottom and wash the pot and run a vinegar mixture through it.
And that's exactly what he did this morning. He teased me though. I was still half asleep when he said he would make me some coffee. That's when he noticed the filthy and neglected condition of my coffee pot. I'm sure he cursed my laziness under his breathe and started cleaning it.
He mentioned coffee so my brain was starting to activate. I heard the bubbling noise but soon smelled vinegar rather than the glorious smell of Dunkin Donuts coffee. I cursed his morning industriousness and pulled the covers over me head.
An hour later I got my coffee. For the record, an hour feels like eternity when waiting for morning coffee. I told him I didn't mind the crud on the coffee pot. It doesn't make my coffee taste any different and that's all I care about.
I did get my coffee though. And that's all that really matters.

Silence means work
I'm in the middle of another work week so naturally I've little time to write. I've spent a lot of time cleaning after work. And organizing. My desk is gorgeous!
There is absolutely no junk on it. None.
I've sorted, filed, and shredded like crazy but I still have a box full of randomness that still needs addressed. I need a gigantic junk drawer. I think most people have one near their kitchen that holds all of that randomness. My stuff is usually all over my desk making me inefficient. I need a junk drawer. So I can close the drawer and ignore it all. Yes, I realize that's not a great solution.
I hate my desk. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought it. Way back in the computer tower days it seemed to have worked okay but now, very little about this desk is functional. I need drawers!! Someday when I have a house, I'll upgrade.
In other news, Brent is home! I made a scrumptious crock pot dinner, which he slept right through. I enjoyed it anyway. And I'm quite used to eating by myself. Pathetic, I know.
I'm glad I only have one more day of work left this week. I think I'm going to head to bed early to get some reading done.

Tuesday Tidbits
Anywho...
- I have yet another cavity. I'm paying for past mistakes. The whole three or four year period of no-insurance and no dentist visits has caught up with me. At least they have been small cavities and caught from the start. My hygienist says I'm still in better shape than most people so that made me feel better. And I have prescription toothpaste for a while to hopefully stop the problem. Extra fluoride - check! Extra calcium - check! I go in first thing Thursday to get the cavity fixed. I'm not so worried about that - it's the waking up before the sun thing that worries me. No good ever comes from waking up before the sun.
- My running has been way too sporadic. While I hit 6 miles last week, I only ran two additional miles last week. I should be running more than that in a week according to my training schedule. I was supposed to run 7 miles today but thought that was a bit high considering I haven't been making my weekly totals. Avoiding injury is my priority so I only ran 5 miles today. Legs were still tired. I iced my knees and one shin to be on the safe side.
- I'm in the middle of reading Catching Fire, the second in the Hunger Games Trilogy. It's another great book!! And I love that it's a teen book so it's easy reading!! My brain can't handle anything too complicated so I'm happy to have found some light reading. Have I mentioned that I love my Nook?? I think I'll read more books this year than I have in many, many years!!
- Brinkley and I had turkey burgers for dinner. Same as last week. Except I learned that garlic and pine nut hummus does not make for a good turkey burger condiment. It was edible but not delicious. Lesson learned.
- I'm missing my TV shows. I hate winter break. I want new episodes of Castle!! And NCIS. And Hawaii 5-0. And PanAm. I didn't give up on PanAm and it paid off. ABC didn't give it the ax mid-season. There's still hope!

Hello, 2012!
Brinkley and I started the New Year off right by spending time with friends! We went down to Denver yesterday for some scrapbooking fun with Heidi and Bryn. I got quite a bit done - Christmas 2011, Halloween, crayon cars, and some fall fun! We'll be getting together again soon so hopefully I can keep making progress on my lengthy "To Scrapbook" list!
Once Brink and I got back into town, we headed out to my Mom and Dad's house for some New Year's Day pork and sauerkraut. I ate two or three shares of sauerkraut to bring me extra good luck this year. If I want to make this year better than last year, I'll take all of the help and extra good vibes I can get!!
2012 holds a trip to Disney World!!! And Idaho! And running a half marathon! And some 5ks and at least one 10k. And lots more hiking and camping - I hope. It's going to be a fun year!!
In addition to continuing my resolutions from last year (that saving money thing worked well), I'm going to focus on two things. TWO - I can handle that. My list was lengthy last year so I'm keeping it simple this year.

- Stop cussing! - Seriously, I have the mouth of a sailor lately. Especially when I get wound up over something. So, I'm going to make a valiant effort to knock if off.
- Get and stay organized! - This one will take more effort but if I can slowly chip away at it like I did other things last year, it would be a wonderful resolution to conquer!! As always, I have a plan, which I will share in pieces as the days pass.
For now, I'm going to stop playing on the computer and start putting stuff away. I have lots to do before Brent gets home on Friday. As usual, I've lived like a single pig in a pigsty and would feel guilty if he came home to my atrocious piles and general filth.
