The inspiration behind the beginning of this blog is something that is as American as apple pie - a road trip! And what better way to partake in this all-American pastime than doing it with a dash of presidential inspiration! It has been decided that come this September, Brent and I will hit the road and take a break from modern living...sort of.We're headed east through the great state of Kansas, into Missouri, up through Illinois where we turn back and return via Iowa and Nebraska. Why on earth would anyone want to drive a 2,000 mile oval through middle-America?? Presidents! In the heart of this fine country lie monuments, memorials, and museums dedicated to Harry S Truman, Dwight "Ike" Eisenhower, Abraham Lincoln, Herbert Hoover, and Ronald Reagan. And with any luck, we'll see them all and much, much more!
This blog will document our preparations and our trip once we hit the road. I'll read histories and biographies about the people, places, and things that we will encounter and ramble random facts to stir interest and enthusiasm. Brent will comment in true smart-ass fashion and do his darnedest to break my all-American road-trippin', let's-visit-the-biggest-ball-of-twine spirit!!
